Adding Spiral Inductors to PDK

I'm trying to add spiral inductors to a PDK that does not natively have them.  I'm running into problems when trying to LVS or extract parasitics as the tools just see the spiral as a short.  How do I set things up properly to mark the spiral as a device and not just a short circuit?

    Dear Lou C,

    Unless you are attempting to include parasitic inductances as part of your extraction (a couplex process), the spiral inductor(s) should be treated as a black box element. Hence, the resulting extracted view will only include a subcircuit call to the black box element. When the extracted view is used to create a netlist, an appropriate view can be used for the spiral inductor. The view may be in the form of s parameters or a circuit model derived from the layout using a EM based tool.

    As an example, in a VCO extracted view netlist I created from its layout with the inductor identified as a black box, the call to the black box inductor appears as follows in the input.scs file:
