How to add holder text to stringfield?

I can't find any option in hiCreateStringField to achieve this effect.

Is there any other method?

You can't do this - there's no option within the hi functions to achieve this (I believe).

The best option is probably to create a tool tip - search for hiToolTip in the documentation and that will tell you how to do this (e.g. type "hiToolTip" in the entry box at the top of the Help menu in any Virtuoso window)

    Andrew, Thanks for the reply.
So I guess the stream-in/out GUI is not created by Skill, right?

That's right - it's implemented in C++ using native Qt APIs rather than being an SKILL "hi" form.
