How to Access Reliability Report in Reliability RAK

AllesNormell
AllesNormell over 2 years ago

Hello Everyone,

I'm still going through the RAK to learn about reliability analysis.

My problem is that the reliability report is disabled (picture attached) even though I followed the steps described in the RAK.

I thought this might be because I kept the output tab in the reliability options empty, but this is what the RAK tells me to do.

I use Cadence-Version 6.1.

I asked this question before but it was never answered and locked.

One problem might be that I don't have access to a Legato License. But the RAK says that I can do the module that includes the reliability report without that license.

OK, I just tried this, and the display of the reliability report (steps on page 15 of the RAK) works fine for me.

I did notice from your screen shot that you'd entered the stress temperature as 8ºC rather than 80ºC but that would only explain the difference in results you see, not the missing reliability report.

That's not terribly specific, since that covers 17 years of different IC sub-versions. I looked at your older post from March and see there you were a bit more specific - you mentioned IC6.1.8-64b.500.21. I tried with that, and it also works fine.

Please can you let me know which IC sub-version you're using now (Help->About will report this - please give the full sub-version number), plus the version of Spectre you're using (this should appear at the top of the Spectre log files - again, please give the full sub-version number).

This certainly doesn't require Legato licenses (I checked that too).

    Thank you Andrew.

    I'm using IC6.1.8-64b.500.21 and spectre Version 19.1.0.064 64bit -- 6 Sep 2019.

The spectre version is older than the one I wanted to use, maybe that is the problem. I need to figure out how to change to the newer one.

The version requirements on the front page of the RAK are wrong; it says SPECTRE 19.1 ISR10, but it actually requires SPECTRE 20.1 ISR10 (20.1.0.348.isr10) or later (the IC version needs at least IC6.1.8 ISR21 - the RAK says ISR23, but that's what it was probably tested with). I found this information in What’s New in Virtuoso IC6.1.8 ISR21 and ICADVM20.1 ISR21 (slide 27) but confirmed it with testing both that Spectre version and the one before.

In the older Spectre version you're using, you can go over the result column for the stress run and do Right Mouse->Reliability Data->Device Lifetime and Degradation and press the "Display..." button. It's essentially the same info, but not queryable in the same way that it is with the Reliability Report view.

In fact, the RAK instructions have the wrong versions on the front page (I'll ask for that to be updated), but on page 4 it says:

    Prerequisites
Black small square Virtuoso IC6.1.8 ISR21 and Spectre20.1 ISR10 or later.
Black small square Familiarity with the basic operations in ADE Assembler.
Black small square Legato license, if you wish to run Lab 3 and Lab 4 of Module 1.

Hello Andrew, thanks for your help.

I changed to spectre "Version 21.1.0.132.isr1" (Cadence Version is still IC6.1.8-64b.500.21) and set up the RAK again from scratch, but it still says "disabled" under the Reliability Report Tab. The "Device Lifetime and Degradation Results" works and the results make sense to me.

I would still like to use the more organized Reliability Report view, maybe there is another Prerequisite I'm not fulfilling.

Because we generally have two Spectre release streams being updated at the same time, SPECTRE21.1 ISR1 is actually slightly older than SPECTRE20.1 ISR10, so fixes integrated into 20.1 ISR10 don't appear until SPECTRE21.1 ISR2 - the version you are using is one hotfix too early. 21.1 ISR1 came out in early September 2021, whereas 20.1 ISR10 came out in late September 2021.

There's not a particularly good reason to be using 2 year old versions of the simulator (or older when you were using 19.1 versions), so I would move to something more recent.

    Hello Andrew, thanks again.

I changed to the newest spectre version and now I can see the reliability report and do the RAK. That was stupid, sorry for the inconvenience.
