Align hierarchic pins in layout with SKILL script.

Dear all,

I am facing the ever returning problem of aligning pins in higher level of the hierachy in hierarchic layout. I have aligned set of instances of the same cell (made with vector extention in name switchA<0:12>). The layout of the cell is done with pins on the left and right side as vRails (set in pin settings). My intent was to make self connecting pins, thus creating a bus of pins, when the instances of the cell are aligned properly. The problem which I am facing is that there are higher hierarchical pins in the top cell, that need to be laid out. I thought about a SKILL script that could do this work for me in no time!

Which SKILL code will:

1. Identify aligned pins of instances,

2. Calculate a sum of their areas,

3. Cover each of the set of sub-pins with top pins that match a given name (may be written down or extracted from schematic netlist)
