Auto placer not updating PR boundary

Hi All,

Could you take a look at the figure? I am trying to make the PR boundary on the left layout more compact and similar to the right. It seems the auto placer can do it, but sometimes it struggles. Is this a tool issue, or is some setting affecting this?

Regards

Supriyo

For clarification, I can manually change the PR boundary, but that is not what I want. I want the tool to do it the way the automatic placer did for the layout on the right. It is not easy to do it manually when I have to compare two layouts, Apple and Apple.

I fixed the issue after trying several times, restarting the tool, giving it a break and switching to other examples, etc. I think there is some randomness in the behavior, maybe some non-determinism or other issues with the tool.

I had noticed this behavior earlier also and it was resolved after restarting the tool. But this time, it was persistent, so it took a lot of effort and time.

The R&D team at cadence should investigate.

Firstly, it you want our R&D team to look into this, you should contact customer support. R&D don’t monitor the community forums for potential issues and even if they did, figuring out what the problem is from a screenshot with no information as to which auto placer you’re using, what the setup and inputs to that placer, what version you’re using and so on is going to be pretty hard. So please contact customer support - we’d be delighted to help you!
