ADE didn't generate the correct when using spf through config

Hi all,

When I run simulation with schematic, everything works fine. But when I run simulation with spf through config, I got the following Error.

ERROR (SFE-45): "netlist" 10: Cannot run the simulation because the instance `X0' of `mycell' requires 8 terminals, but has only 0 terminal specified. Specify the required 8 terminals for the instance and rerun the simulation.

I view the netlist, the last line looks like this "X0 mycell". There is 0 terminal.

Do you have any idea about this?

Or, is there some method to run with existing netlist? Not re-create netlist everytime?

Thanks

How are you running the "spf through config"? Are you creating a DSPF view? Did you do the File->Extract or use the "Build a database of instances..." icon (the save icon with a green checkmark and arrow in the editor)?  That's needed to extract the terminal order from the DSPF and update the CDF.

If you're not using a DSPF view, how are you doing this?

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your help.

I did this by create a config view, then replace the view with a spf file. And in ADE, right click on the test and set the design to config.

    Thanks,

    Cambridge

    Cambridge,

That's not really a recommended way of doing it. For a start, it won't read the file as DSPF (which has some benefits - the simulator then knows it's parasitic data), and secondly you will need to go to Tools→CDF→Edit in the CIW and edit the Base CDF for the cell; you will need to go to the Spectre simulation information, and ensure that the termOrder matches the order in the DSPF file (the names of the terminals need to match the names on the symbol, but the order has to match the order in the SUBCKT in the DSPF - there might be differences in name syntax, but since the connection is by order, this matters). You probably also need to set the component name in the simulation information too (that looks as if it's probably OK already though from your earlier description).

A better approach is to either:

    1. Leave the config picking the schematic view by default, and then using Setup→Simulation Files in ADE and specifying the DSPF file there in the DSPF files section. This will then add a dspf_include to the netlist, and it will automatically handle the terminal order (it uses the terminal order from the netlisted schematic for the cell, but the contents come from the DSPF)
    2. Create a DSPF view as I mentioned before, and then pick that view in the hierarchy editor.

Thanks a lot Andrew. This way works fine for me.
