Defining custom sigType

Is it possible to create a custom sigType? What I would like the new sigType to do is:

1. Only pins and wires of the same custom sigType can be connected, misconnections are flagged at schematic check
2. Custom colors for pins and wires of the custom sigTypes

I know with the photonics option Cadence adds an "optical" sigType which behaves this way; is defining new sigTypes available to us mere mortals?

    No, this is not possible. The standard signal types are defined in OpenAccess, and the photonics option extends this via a Cadence extension to the database (which can't be done via SKILL; it's handled at a lower level).
