ERROR (ASSEMBLER-2220): SQL pragma "legacy_file_format" with value "ON" could not be applied

hello Cadence support.

I am having a weird problem with virtuoso (IC6.1.8-64b.500.6)

when running a simulation on Assembler, I get the following Error message on CIW:

ERROR (ASSEMBLER-2220): While initializing the results database, the SQL pragma "legacy_file_format" with value "ON" could not be applied onto the results database engine
Return value is: ""
The results database uses SQL statements internally.
ADE Assembler will continue to function but will operate slower than expected.
Contact Cadence Customer Support to report the problem.

the simulation runs, but, as the message implies, it is slower than expected.

the message does not suggest other solution than "contacting the support".

could you help me?

    hello Cadence support.

This site is not Cadence Support, it's our community forum where people in the community try to help out (including a few of us from Cadence that do so in our spare time). That would be to log onto our Application Support & Knowledge site and submitting a support case (under the Cases menu) after logging in.

I found a couple of occurrences of this message being reported, both in early IC6.1.8 ISRs. Given that the version. you are using is probably from 2019 (I didn't check the dates), could you please try using a newer IC6.1.8 (or IC23.1) version? The latest is IC6.1.8-64b.500.36 . If the problem still occurs, then you should certainly contact customer support.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    dear Andrew,

    thank you for your answer.

using a more recent version, made the error message disappear.
I still have some issues by doing this (for example, using a more recent version, virtuoso crashes when a complex layout is visualized, which is the reason I was using an old version to begin with), but I can somehow work around this.

I would like a clarification, however, about a part of your answer

    > Cadence Support ... log onto our Application Support & Knowledge site and submitting a support case (under the Cases menu) after logging in.

when logging in the site, under the Case menu, I only find a "view Requests" item.
That means, from there, I see only the possibility of viewing already submitted cases, not to submit a new case.
how does one submit a new case?

Are you from an academic institution? If so, then the mechanism probably depends under which scheme you're under. If you are in the Europractice scheme then you should contact the Europractice software centre for support. Elsewhere in the world it tends to be that you have a designated program lead at your institution who has full access and can submit support cases.

    Regards,

    Andrew
