Transient simulation with noisefmin blank

Hi,

I have been running transient simulations with noise option on, only setting noise f max, thinking flicker noise will be reflected automatically from certain reasonable value. Until I just realized there is an option to set noise fmin, and also found post several years ago that I should set noise fmin to get flicker noise.

If I have left the noise fmin to blank, then does it mean it was only getting white noise? Or is there a default value set if I leave it blank? I am worried if I need to run whole simulations again.

Thank you. I would really appreciate any guidance.

Best regards,

Seoyoon

    Seoyoon,

You originally posted this in the Feedback, Suggestions and Questions forum which is for issues with the forums themselves, not for technical questions. As such, it was unlikely to get answered. Instead, I moved it into a technical forum relevant to your subject.

Unless you're using a pretty old version of Spectre, noisefmin is set to 1 (Hz) by default (which is why it does not appear on the main transient noise form). This is nearly always sufficient and as a result you should be getting flicker noise too.

If you want to check, you can type (in a UNIX terminal):

spectre -h tran | grep noisefmin

This would output (the first line):

99 noisefmin=1 Hz If specified, the power spectral density of the noise

if it shows 1 Hz, then the default is that in the version of Spectre you're using.

    Andrew.

Indeed, it outputs noisefmin = 1 Hz. That's a relief. Thank you, Andrew, I really appreciate your answer.
