Library Manager: Can it support e.g. bitmap pictures and libre office documents?

Hi,

I think it can support pdf, but I wonder if I can e.g. make it work e.g. for png files, opening e.g. it with GIMP, or also for office files?

I know we can save files in maestro under documents area, but for many things the Library Manager is a much more native place for navigation and finding something in the design data.

Bye Stephan

Yes, you can use arbitrary file types opened with arbitrary external applications.
What you need is a custom data.reg file to define the different file formats and some skill to register the applications that will open these custom views. You may have a look at:
    support.cadence.com/.../ArticleAttachmentPortal
    support.cadence.com/.../ArticleAttachmentPortal

Inside the skill trigger, you can then define what should happen, when you create the view, e.g. open a form to have the user select external files to be copied into the cdslib or copy/create some initial files (I use predefined 'empty' documents for all office formats), and what application should be used to open the view, so the user can choose the office flavor, or what spreadsheet program resp. image editor/viewer to use (if there are multiple options). These will however be somewhat hard-coded, or you spend some extra effort to search for suitable applications or look them up in the desktop file associations.

    Regards.
