How to define Cell based on S-Parameters

spatz
spatz 2 months ago

I want to EM simulate specfic layout parts of my circuit and use the resulting S-Parameters in my schematic and layout.

For example a CPW structure which connects the collector the input device and the emitter of cascode the device, which shall behave inductive.

For schematic I use an nport device, but I cannot use this for layout - LVS complains.

How to approach this?

I do not know what to look for in the documentation. If someone could give me a pointer and show me the way is very much appreciated!

Thank you!

    Hi,

It's not entirely clear to me what you're trying to do. I assume you started with an LVS clean design, generated s-parameter for a layout and will simulate with this model. How is the nport model appearing in the LVS flow?

    Regards,

    Saloni

    • Main cell A
    • EM simulated cell B:
      • schematic with nport and SP data
      • layout, which I used for EM simulation
      • symbol

    I put symbol.B in schematic.A and layout.B in layout.A.

Now I want to perform LVS on layout.A. Then PVS will find the nport for layout.B and complains because from the connectivity view, layout.B is a short.

Setting Cell B as a blackbox during LVS should solve your issue. Can you view this article that explains the LVS options you need -
