Parameterization of transistor model BSIM4 parameters

In BSIM4 transistor modeling, I notice that the model file contains multiple types or entries for what seems to be the same transistor subcircuit. Which specific model type should be parameterized, and what is the purpose of having so many different BSIM4 model variations within the same transistor Subcircuit?
