xrun: *F,SROOTE: Cannot find the Spectre installation

Hi,

I'm using ADE L simulation tool and encountered the following problem:

Problem:

In  ADE L  -> Setup -> Simulator/Directory/Host, if I switch the simulator to AMS, it gives an error when generating netlists:

Running netlist assembly..
xrun: *F,SROOTE: Cannot find the Spectre installation. The wrapper script specified for spectre_root '/eda/cadence/.../SPECTRE_21.10.751/bin/spectre_root' does not return a valid spectre installation.

Setup:

1. PC: Rocky Linux 8.10, mounted to remote Cadence install and PDKs.

2. Virtuoso: sub-version: IC6.1.8-64b.500.32

3. Spectre: Version 21.1.0.751.isr19 64bit -- 22 May 2023

Verification:

1. run which spectre && spectre -V, it prints the correct version.

2. run the spectre_root wrapper: /eda/cadence/.../SPECTRE_21.10.751/bin/spectre_root on local terminal, it returns the expected root and exit code 0: /eda/cadence/.../SPECTRE_21.10.751

3. Switch the simulator to spectre in ADE L: simulation works fine.

4. The same setup and workflow on another PC (CentOS 7) works fine.

Any guidance or known compatibility issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is quite likely to be related to the XCELIUM version you're using. What does "xrun -version" return?

    Regards,

    Andrew

Not sure why - does the spectre_root output any message about unsupported platforms? There were some issues with XCELUM2309 only supporting up to RHEL8.6 (later subversions had problems) so it might be that the older 2203 release also had challenges.

Any chance you could try newer versions?

This is probably best handled by contacting customer support (use the Case menu to submit a case after logging in).

There's this article too: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): AMSD Flexible Release Model, but not sure it helps in this case.

    Regards,

    Andrew
