Question Pcell design: How to set offset of a contact?

Hello,

I am designing a Pcell of transistor with Virtuoso Pcell soft.

I want to let a contact in the center of the shape, with increase the size of the shape.

So, I am trying in this way: Add a “Reference Point (Define by Parameter)” to the contact.

Now the question is how can I modify the coordinates of the contact?

In fact, the parameter of the reference point is a SKILLlist type. But in CDF parameters, I don’t know how to create a SKILLlist type parameter to control this reference point parameter.

Could you give some suggestion? Thank you.

I'm assuming (from your description) that  you're creating a "graphical" pcell rather than a SKILL pcell (since there's a menu in the Graphical Pcell editor to create a Reference Point as you've described.

As you've said, this expects the coordinates to be specified as an ILList parameter. If  you had no CDF at all, you'd be OK, because you get prompted with the pcell parameters when you place an instance of the pcell, or edit the properties of a pcell instance. If however you have CDF, you only see the CDF parameters.

Currently there is no "list" type in CDF. I've seen some discussions about supporting this, but it was for the IC616 timeframe (IC614 is just about to come out, so it's going to be a while yet).

The workarounds are to either create a string CDF and then use a "doneProc" (see the Component Description Format manual) to set the real ILList parameter derived from the string parameter, or to create a SKILL Pcell, and have separate X and Y coordinate fields to do the same thing; with a SKILL pcell you have more control over the mapping of parameters to underlying functionality, because it's just SKILL code.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi,

I'd like to add to what Andrew has said...  If you are working with PCells and you are also using CDF, then there is a solution which may help (solution 11130422, in case the link does not work).  This solution shows the mapping between SKILL datatypes for a PCell and the supported CDF data types.

    Regards,

    Lawrence.
