Import a GDS File: Xstream Failed

Hello, i am a new user of cadence. I am trying to import a GDS file but I got an error.

I am running Cadence Version 6.1.3 07/31/20 , I have a technology file attached. I have created  a new library and then I select File-Import.

If I select VHDL, Spice, DEF, LEF it works; the import window appears. If I select Stream instead in the CIW I can read:

 "  XStream/strminui is running (PID = ipc:1 )...

XStream failed "

and  nothing happens.

What can I do to import my GDS file?

Thanks

 Gianluca

    Hi Gianluca,

Do you have any log file? It is very hard to troubleshoot since we didn't see any issue in streaming in GDS. A log file will be very useful.

    Rdgs,

Please find attached the CDS.log file.

If you need to check other log files, please let me know wich one and where I can find it.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Regards

    Hi Gianluca,

I could not see anything obvious in the CDS.log as the cause of the problem.  I suggest that you contact your local Cadence Customer Support (or internal support etc.) to submit a Service Request.

    regards,

    Lawrence.

Ok, I will contact the local customer support. It's really strange because if i try to use export -> stream, it works!

If I will be able to find the solution I will post it. Thanks.

    Hi Gianluca

As a workaround, you can run strmin cmd in your working directory in a terminal window. : )

    terminal>strmin -library ABC -strmFile /path/myFile.gds

    Best regards

    HI,

I think it would be helpful if you have a look on your PIPO.log file. I'm sure the details for your streamin error are listed there.

     regards,

    Hi rence

Good point. : )  Just a minor correction. The default file name PIPO.log is for pipo from IC5141. IC61 uses XStream and has the default log file name "strmin.log" when importing gds files.

    Best regards

     Hi Quek,

I am using both on a per proj basis so my apologies for mixing it up. :D

    Thanks anyway for the clarification.

    BR,  rence
