How to check if a particular view of a cell exists?

Hi, I was using the following command to check if a view of a cell exists: >> if((NewCellId = dbOpenCellViewByType(MyLibName myCell newView nil "r")) then >> .... It doesn't work. It will always create a dbId for that view even if that is the first time. Is there a different way to check if the cells exist? Thanks in advance, Ronen.

    Hi Ronen,

You can use the ddGetObj() function to check for the existence of a cellview in the file system. I think your parentheses are misplaced in the above example, the then and associated code needs to be before the close paren - dbOpenCellViewByType will return nil if the cellview doesn't exist, but you might also get a warning, so the ddGetObj method might be preferable.

    Best regards,

    Lawrence.

    Thanks Lawrence,
It worked as I intended using the ddGetObj().
