IC5.1.41 itkDB_pic.a compilation error : undefined reference to `ilInitClients'

 Hi,

I am trying to use ITK for a  IC5.1.41 application.

itkDB.a requires g++ version 3.2.3 but the rest of the code is not compatible with 3.2.3.

( see support.cadence.com/.../)

To overcome this I used itkDB_pic.a that can be compiled with newer g++ versions. The problem here is ilInitClients that is used to initialize SKILL. Is there any other way to compile ITK with a newer compiler and have skill support?

thanks,

Labros

    Labros,

That solution is pretty clear. Bear in mind that IC5141 is based on a development platform at the time it was initially released (we cannot move that, because we need to still support customers who haven't moved from the base platform at time of release); IC5141 was released in 2004.

I don't know what your problem is with ilInitClients, because you didn't explain it.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

     Andrew,

thanks for the reply. The problem with  ilInitClients is that when I try to compile itkDB_pic.a , compilation error :  undefined reference to `ilInitClients' appears. When I search for string "ilInitClients" in itkDB_pic.a ,nothing is found , whereas the same string is found in  itkDB.a .

I suppose that for some reason  ilInitClients is not implemented in  itkDB_pic.a.

    Thanks,

    Labros

    Hi Labros,

In the past I filed CCR 579345 for this issue in IC5141 but the CCR was not fixed.  In IC612 ISR onwards the issue was fixed and the ilInitClients symbol is present in the itkDB_pic.a file, I don't know of a solution or workaround for IC5141 - perhaps file a Service Request and we can submit a duplicate request for the above CCR...

    Best regards,

    Lawrence.

    Labros,

That's been fixed in IC61(something). It's not there in IC5141 because there was not a "position independent code" version of some of the libraries that needed to be linked in.

So in IC5141 you only have the option of using the itkDB.a if you need ilInitClients.

    Andrew.

    Lawrence,

But given where IC5141 is in its lifecycle (normal hotfixes are no longer being released), it simply is not going to be changed in IC5141.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
