"Create Label" form's fields don't get change when using "hiRegTimer"

Hi,

I want to set the "Create Label" forms' field/s.
As long as "le0LabelForm" is defined (the form was at least once called) there is no problem doing something like:
le0LabelForm~>labelText~>value= "text"

The problem is how to set the field on first time the form is launched, meaning that the le0LabelForm is not defined yet.
I tried various solutions including using hiRegTimer with no success.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Itay

    How about something like this:

     hiRegTimer("hiGetCurrentForm()~>labelText~>value= \"text\"" 1) leHiCreateLabel()

    Hi Derek,

    I tried that already, still the form comes up empty (on first invocation).

    Thanks,

    Have you tried increasing the value of the number from 1 to 10. Maybe it is taking longer than .1 seconds for the form to be defined and displayed.

    Yes, I tried that as well, no success...
    You can try on your side, if you see different behavior let me know.

    Thanks,
    Itay

    It works for me with a value of 1. I had to use hiGetCurrentForm() because the form name was leLabelForm, not le0LabelForm and I don't think you can count on the form name being consistent through an entire session.

    Are you not seeing any error messages in your CIW?

    Hi Derek,

    I tried your exact syntax with the hiGetCurrentForm(), still the field doesn't get filled.

    Just to emphasise that this problem occur only on the first time you load the form.
    Have you tried it on a fresh loaded Virtuoso and Layout session? Which version are you using?

    No, I get no error message in CIW.

    I had been testing in 5.1.41 without trouble. In 6.1.5, it did not work with a value of 1, but it did work with a value of 10. You could try a high value of 30 to see what happens. Three seconds should be plenty of time to get the form defined and displayed.

    Hi Itay,

    There's no need to use a timer. Use this:

    form=leGetTechFormList(techGetTechFile(geGetEditCellView()))->labelForm
    unless(hiIsInstantiated(form) hiInstantiateForm(form))
    form->labelText->value="blah"

    This will take care of getting the right form - one is created per technology database. The above should work if the form has never been brought up, or if it's been used already.

    Hope that helps,

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    In the same manner I'm trying also to change the "Layer Label/Purpose" field to "Select Layer":
    form->labelTextLPP->value="Select Layer"
    but this won't work until the second time I'm calling the "Create Label" form.

    Why is that? any solution for getting it right at first time?

    Thanks,
    Itay
