How to create cdl view using skill

 Hi,

I would like to create cdl view.

I tried to do that using  deNewCellView(Cell_Library Cell_Name "cdl" "Cdl" nil)

But it didn't work well. It only created cdl view ,without creating the cdl file inside of it.

I managed  to solve this problem  when I create at first schematic file:deNewCellView(Cell_Library Cell_Name "schematic" "schematic" nil)

Also , when I did that I noticed that it automaticly opens the cdl file. Can  I prevent that?

Thanks,

Michael Shuster

It's a "Design Editor" command, so it is supposed to open the relevant editor for you to manually create the contents. It's not a "batch" command. If there's an existing schematic view, there are some smarts to set the terminals for you - but you'd still need to provide the contents.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the fast replay. I didn't understand the second part of your answer: "If there's an existing schematic view, there are some smarts to set the terminals for you - but you'd still need to provide the contents." Can I create a cdl view without creating one of the other views? If the answer is positive can you please explain me what should I do. Thanks. Michael Shuster

    Michael,

If there's a schematic, all it does is create:

    .SUBCKT cellName pin1 pin2 pin3 ...

    .ENDS

so you're going to have to type in the contents anyway. It borrows the pin names from the other view if it exists, or leaves the pin list blank otherwise.

Since an editor is opened, the idea is that you're presumably going to create the content yourself...

I'm not really sure what you're expecting it to do?

    Regards,

    Andrew.
