 Hell0,

I am using  lxGenFromSource(dbOpenCellViewByType(libName cellName "symbol" "" "r") ?layLibName newLib ?layCellName newcell ?layViewName "layout") to convert symbol into layout but I am getting the following warning

*WARNING* (LX-2031): Cannot find the specified schematic cellview. The name or database IDyou specified either does not exist or does not point to a validschematic cellview. Specify a valid schematic cellview and try again.

but I have this Symbol view in my specified cellname , What could be the problem ?

Thanks

farhan

    Hi,

I think the problem is in your understanding of the different cellviews and how they are used.  The symbol view and schematic views are different entities and have a different database type (for example the symbol cellview database type is schematicSymbol and the schematic cellview database type is schematic) and different content. The symbol view is a symbol that is used to represent a more complex circuit that is usually contained in a schematic cellview (although it could be a text cellview such as veriloga).  So the symbol and schematic represent two different views of the same cell - VLS-XL needs a connectivity reference that contains instances and connectivity as well as pins, and so the schematic view is used for this, not the symbol view.

    Best regards,

    Lawrence.
