Please i need to get a script that can generate a layout pattern.
I'll have a procedure that will take the following:
1) Transistor library
2) Transistor name ex: nch
3) Number of transistors
4) Name for every transistor
5) Channel length
6) Total Width of each transistor
7) Building unit fingers nf and wf width per finger
8) Multipliers of every tansistor.
9) Upper /lower dummy nf & wf
10)Right/left dummy nf & wf
11) Pattern distribution with sharing their sources.

what i have got that about sharing the sources topic is once i know the origin of a transistor i can get an equation like this

"origin of 1st instance+ (nfunit*channel length)+ (no of OD spacings = nfunit * OD abutted spacing)" this to get the origin of the next instance in the row at this point which will make the sources to be shared. i got that when i converted a layout to skill so i found it uses lxCreateInst with this coordinated for every instance.

I need to draw this pattern with all terminals connected virtually using pins.

can you help me please with doing this script as i'm a very beginner with skill and its too difficult.
My thought is if i have a 2D array that i can fill under these conditions so how can i script this pattern generator?

Hi Inas,

This looks like a job for a Modgen (module generator) - you don't need to write SKILL to create a complex placement of transistor instances (which can be abutted, and routed, and a guardring added too, if needed). Switch to Layout XL (VLS-XL) and enable the Constraint Manager. Select the instances that will be members of the 'array' - you can add dummy devices in the modgen, or if these devices are already layed out and match the schematic, select these as well as the M6, M7 and M9 instances. With the member devices selected create a Modgen constraint in the Constraint Manager (hover the mouse over the toolbar icons and you should see one that says "Module Generator", or click a drop-down arrow until you see the icon). Inside the Constraint Manager double click on the Modgen constraint to see some basic parameters such as the number of Rows and Columns, it looks like you need 5 rows and 7 columns. You should get a Modgen Editing layout window with an icon toolbar across the top - use this to abut selected instances (or all) and add a guardring and routing etc. Press the green check mark to save and exit.
This is only a VERY basic overview of Modgens, look for videos, tutorials and RAKs (Rapid Adoption Kits) on Modgens on the Cadence Support website.

Trying to create the above in SKILL code could be very complex, so I would definitely recommend the above approach.

Other than you not reading the forum guidelines (about posting on the end of old threads, especially when the earlier question is unrelated), I think it's quite hopefully of you to expect somebody on these forums to do your job for you. What  you're asking is not a short amount of work - and everyone here is doing  this in their spare time.

Have you considered using modgens in VLS GXL? These are designed to do the kind of thing you're asking for, so it seems a bit silly reinventing the wheel when the tools already have similar capability built-in.
