functions used inside IDE

Hello

I'm writing the following procedure in a skill script in an IDE. But i always have the 1st leSearchHierarchy gives "invalid bBox: nil" in the CIW. Although the values ll and ur are computed.

My 1st question: Is this function can be used in a skill script in the IDE or only works in he CIW for trials?

2nd question: why i have this error, what does it mean and how can i solve it?

The procedure is invoked by these 2 lines:

add_layer(cellView llInst urInst "NW" "drawing")
add_layer(cellView llInst urInst "PP" "drawing")

The procedure:

procedure(add_layer(cellView llInst urInst layerName purpose)
let((cv L X Z ll ur)
cv=geGetWindowCellView()
L=leSearchHierarchy(cv llInst~>bBox 1 "rectangle" list(list("layer" "==" list(layerName purpose))))
X=car(L~>bBox)
Z=car(X)
ll=dbTransformPoint(Z llInst~>transform)
L=leSearchHierarchy(cv urInst~>bBox 1 "rectangle" list(list("layer" "==" list(layerName purpose))))
X=nth(1 K)
Z=cadr(X~>bBox)
ur=dbTransformPoint(Z urInst~>transform)
dbCreateRect(cellView list(layerName purpose) list(ll ur))
))

Thanks

    Yes, of course, you can use this function anywhere. I don't think there are any functions that only work in the IDE or only in the CIW (there are a few we suggest are not to be used in code, but the documentation makes that very clear).

    Almost certainly something is wrong with the logic of your code, which means that the second argument to leSearchHierarchy is getting nil passed at some point. Maybe either llInst or urInst are nil, hence nil~>bBox also returns nil.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
