Stream out specific area of layout

Hi,

I'm wondering is it possible to stream out just a specific area of a layout using skill (ie giving input coordinates)? I am working with a considerably large layout, and stream out time is taking a considerable length of time.

Thanks,

Brian.

    Hi Brian,

Not really. You could however use the yank and paste commands (or corresponding SKILL "le" functions) to yank an area of the layout into a new layout cellView and then stream out that instead. That will cut through an instances which straddle the boundary being yanked, but preserve hierarchy for anything completely within the yank area.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Andrew, that's great, thanks, this works a charm, only thing though, I notice it does not always grab all of the arrays I select. Any ideas why this may be? Brian.

Not sure why that would be. A couple of questions:

    1. Which subversion of virtuoso are you using? getVersion(t) in the CIW will tell you
    2. Are you pre-selecting the objects you wish to yank, or are you not selecting anything and then entering the coordinates of a rectangular area you wish to yank
    3. By array do you mean a "mosaic" - i.e. an instance with multiple rows and/or column of a cellView?

Yes, I know that was one more than a couple ;-)

    Regards,

    Andrew.
