How do you get rid of this marker?

I know the remove marker deletes the marker, but I dont want it generated.

    Hi Paul,

That's a connectivity mismatch glyph in Layout XL. Seems to have appeared in recent versions. A bit annoying to figure out what it is alright. Use Connectivity -> Check Against Source and untick the glyphys you don't want to see.

    Regards,

    Colm

Thanks for the info and sorry for the image confusion. I dont see the glyphs in the menu selection. I am using EXL if that makes a difference ICADVM18.1-64b.500.6

There's no UI control to turn off the glyphs - Colm was probably just suggesting that you could turn off the Connectivity switch on that form (although then you'll get no information from the check-against-source with respect to connectivity, so that's probably not desirable).

There is an environment option to control this though, as covered in this article: How to control CAS on-canvas connectivity balloons in ICADVM18.1

    Simply, do:

    envSetVal("layoutXL" "casGlyphs" 'boolean nil)

You'll need to re-do the check-against-source after disabling glyphs (i.e. turning it off doesn't alter the display of existing glyphs, but it does affect when they're recreated).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

So why did Cadence even create this? Who thinks that a GIANT pink circle that can't be seen through, can't be drawn through so you can't even DO the connection it's complaining about, steals cursor movements, is even remotely a good idea??  And then to not put a control for it in the XL options or another way to toggle it???

They're not normally giant - they alert you to the fact that you have check-against-source markers (and they only show if you've run check against source), and you can turn the display of them off in the navigator selectively. The idea is to give indication on the canvas that there are check-against-source issues. Here they don't seem excessively large to me (perhaps it depends on which check is being triggered). Yes, I know, this is a silly layout that's just been gen-from-sourced and I've not placed or routed anything yet:

Some people like them, some people don't (clearly you don't). In current versions, you can control it on the form that pops up when you do check-against-source, so they're now easy to turn off when you run CAS (The Glyphs section at the bottom):

As with all things - not everything appeals to everyone, and so we have an env var to change the default and a UI to change it on the fly.

    Andrew.
