Run a SKILL script from command line when Virtuoso is already running

Hi,

I want to load a SKILL script (that accesses simulation results using "loadResults()" function) from Linux command line when Virtuoso is already running. I came across a post that advises using "virtuoso -restore myskill.il" but that results in license issues since Virtuoso is already running. I also saw some comments about using dbAccess but I understand that its functionality is limited. Are there any other options to run a SKILL script from command line, without running into license issues?

Here's the license error that I receive: "ERROR (ELI-00111) Failed to check out license 'Virtuoso_Adv_Node_Framework'."

Thank you!

You shouldn't hit a license issue unless maybe you're running with "-nograph"? If the user/host/display is the same for the two invocations of virtuoso, then licenses such as the Virtuoso_Adv_Node_Framework which are "UHD" licenses would be shared between the two sessions. If using -nograph, perhaps you could switch to using -nographE as that will avoid the CIW appearing but still be connected to the same display.

Whatever you do it's going to need an ADE license, but that too would be shared as Explorer and Assembler are also UHD licenses.

Hi Andrew, I was using -nograph option in my command. I don't see license issues when I omit the -nograph option. Thank you for your response!
