I want to assgian a value to a symbol created by concat as following skill code, but error is reported. How should I do?

for(i 1 9
    concat('a i) = i*2
)

Thanks, Martin

    Hi Martin

    The function you are looking for is

    set

    In addition, you should consider whether this is the right approach. Perhaps you should be using an array or a hash table instead? Symbols are not garbage collected, so unless there's a very good reason, creating new symbols as a pseudo-array as you've described is not the best idea...

    AurelBuche,

    Another question, how to get the value assigned to the symbol by set(concat('a 1) 1)? get() function doesn't work.

    for(i 1 9
        println( get( concat('a i)) )
    )

    Thanks!

    Hi Martin,

    You should really consider Andrew's answer above

    Constructing symbols is usually a bad habit.

    It is hard to understand when you share your code and tricky to debug as you have to deduce where the symbols were built

    If you are trying to access the stored values using `get ` probably means that using tables or DPLs is more suitable

    Cheers

    Aurélien
