creating feedthroughs for a power domain

Hi,

I would like to know if there is away to create  feedthroghs for a power domains in encounter similiar  to the option for partiions. I have some nets in the design which take long detours as they have power domain in between and would help if I could add a feedthhrough which would make the net go through the power domain.

Regards

This would be better answered by someone in the Digital Implementation Forum.

Yes, insertPtnFeedthrough should be able to do this.  I haven't tried it myself, but judging from the documentation I see in 7.1.USR2, the software is capable of this task:

"The insertPtnFeedthrough command can detect if the design has power domains. This
way, the appropriate buffer is selected from the libraries tied to the power domain. For
placement-based feedthrough insertion, buffers are inserted only for those power domains
that have the power sequence set to Always On. For route-based feedthrough insertion,
buffers are inserted based on the routing.

Feedthrough buffers are not inserted in power domains that are at different voltages. This
way, there is no need to insert level shifters, which take a lot of space. For placement based
feedthrough insertion, you can still add a feedthrough path through power domains that are
at same voltage level by specifying the -sameVoltage parameter."

Please give the "man insertPtnFeedthrough" at the encounter prompt, or refer to the fetxtcmdref.pdf for more information on the command.  Please post back and let us know how this works for you- successfully or unsuccessfully.

    Thanks!
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

The design I am workin on is a flat design ad does not have any partitions. It has power domains
And I have a scenario where some nets are detoured around the power domains . So I needed option which

Would allow the nets to be taken through the power domain even though they do not belong to that power domain.

I tried the insertPtnFeedthrough command but it complains that the design does not have any patitions.

    Regards
