Simulation-based IR-drop analysis with average mode

Hello,

I used the Encounter to run the simulation-based IR-drop analysis with average mode and got some questions.

  1. If I decrease the simulation period to be very small, the result of using average mode will be very very close to using peak mode, right?
  2. I exported the power graph files for four different simulation periods, 300ns~500ns, 500ns~700ns, 700ns~900ns, and 300ns~900ns in the same VCD file. Those power graph files are named as graph1, graph2, graph3 and graph4. Then, I observed the voltage for a particular pin from those power graph files.
    • Graph1: 1079.990293 mV
    • Graph2: 1079.990719 mV
    • Graph3: 1079.990293 mV
    • Graph4: 1079.990293 mV
Apparently, the value in Graph4 is not the average in Graph1~Graph3. Can anyone explain this?

Thanks.

M.-F.
