SEGV error

archive
archive over 19 years ago

Hi,
I'm a newbie to SoC encounter, infact to PD in general. I was trying out my first design which has a few memory blocks. While using the vclefs and trying to go through the special route, i got an error named "SEGV". Does anybody have any suggestions regarding this?

also, does encounter have some lab sessions in the installation directory?Hope to get a response soon.

Thanks.

    Hi,

SEGV means "segmentation fault". It simply mean that th program is accessing a (computer) memory that it should not. This is due to software error, that lead to corrupted memory pointers, etc etc. Simply put, this error message is not useful to find the cause of the software crash.

Try to run the program again. Sometime it will work. Trying out several "unexpected sequcence of commands" can cause the software to become unstable.

Perhaps you can list part of the scripts or log file here. We might spot if something are unusual.

    Regards,
    Eng Han
