encounter library characterizer

 Hi everyone:

I am going to use encounter library characterizer(ELC) and set up before starting simulation. I follow a signalstorm tutorial to do this, for example, I use comond "set_var SG_SPICE_SIMPLIFY true" to set up ELC to a "simple" mode. But there is a warning that "SG_SPICE_SIMPLIFY environment name is not supported in ELC mode, use plugin mode". So I think signalstorm commond can not be used in ELC. I can not find a detailed tutorial about ELC, who can help me with this ? Teach me how to set up ELC and provide me some information about commands and tutorials. Thanks very much!

    Hi Nathen,

I think the Encounter Library Characterizre User Guide would be helpful for you. After sourcing the cshrc file for elc you can run cdnshelp and then look into Encounter Timing System product, then the Encounter Library Characterizer User Guide.

     Hope that helps.

Yes, either download our library at http://freepdk.ecen.okstate.edu or buy the excellent book by Erik Brunvand, "Digital VLSI Chip Design with Cadence and Synopsys CAD Tools". The cell library at the URL listed has all the scripts - it might be advisable to do both! Enjoy!
