fill area in core site with customized standard cells

Hi All,

I am trying to place some customized standard cells in top row and bottom row in core site. I am hoping there to be a feature in encounter where you can select some area in core site and ask the tool to fill that area with the customized cells. Is this possible? The only thing closest to this that i found is fillarea for ENDCAP cells. Since this command only add cells to end of site row, it didn't work for me. By adding all these customized standard cells around the core, I will be making a guard ring. I'll appreciate any suggestions..

Thanks for Your time.

You should be able to use the addFiller command to add any type of cell.  The GUI will only show you cells that have CLASS SPACER in LEF, but you should be able to specify any cell you want, be sure to specify the area where you want them to go.

Please consult the Command Reference for the exact syntax.

    Regards,

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for the suggestion. I did successfully placed those cells using addFiller in a specified area and also marked them as fixed.

    Thanks again.
