cts on IO to reg paths

hi

I have direct connection from IOs to registers and IOs are far away from registers

I want to build cts for these above paths(for example input as root pin and register D pin as leafpin) in order to meet IO to register timing.

Can any one please tell me at what stage i should do cts for these paths so that i do not have impact on other paths timing.
