How to rename an instance?

I'd like to rename an instance in the SOCE database. For instance, if my verilog is:

OR1 inst_name_inst0 (...)

I'd like to do a 'renameInst inst_name_inst0 inst_name_inst1'. Does any functionality like that currently exist? I believe I can write the necessary commands to addInst, attachTerm, deleteInst, etc. but it would be nice if something already existed.
