Streaming GDSII from Encounter

I have a simple question. Is there any constraints on streaming out GDS file from Encounter ? I'm asking because it's my 1st time to tape out a design, and the foundry told me that I cannot send Encounter GDS layout !! I also noticed that most people stream GDS from Virtuoso....So I want to know what is the trick Thanks

  •  You may want to ask your foundry the specific reasons, but in general, a finished chip that goes to the foundry will have things like a part number, copyright, guardring/sealring, etc. that are added in Virtuoso during the final chip assembly.
