setup optimisation without sdc file

admin
admin over 17 years ago
Dear all

I am facing this situation for the first time. I was initially given a netlist with the corresponding .sdc file for place and route which went fine.

Now i am given a new netlist with a few updates and no sdc file and am asked to change the prev one and carry further with place and route for time being .

I dont no how to proceed with this. if i try give the prev SDC file . the loadtiming command gives error as nets not found

can some one please give me some advice

Thnk you in advance

    Hi Suresh,

We always ask our customer to provide an updated SDC with the new netlist. You can continue with the warnings about missing nets, but it won't be a very accurate test, because you'll be missing constraints. It's possible you could look at the new netlist and tell what the constraint needs to be changed to, but this can be difficult unless you are very familiar with the design. My opinion is that you need to press for matching constraints.
