How to open OpenAccess design in Virtuoso ??

Dear All

i have a layout for a design made in Encounter Soc and i want to transfer it to Virtuoso using OpenAccess, can anyone help me to know after i save the design as OA in soc how to open it in Virtuoso, and what are the technology libraries that are needed to be added to the design or imported in virtuoso to make it see the design properly, as i have tried to open that design DIRECTLY in virtuoso (without adding any Technology files or anything) and the design open but nearly there is no metal layers or vias in the design !!! and there is a warning that Layer Purpose Pairs are not found !!!

can anyone help me in how to properly setup my virtuoso so as to open my OpenAccess design ??

Thanks in advance

Could you please look at the warning error that you have when you start Encounter and loading the OA view ?

Could you please write them here (ther error/warning number should be enough)?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Good Morning Alex, There are no errors, but I do get the following warnings: SOCOAX-1044, SOCLF-133, SOCSYS-2. Thank you, Chris

    Hi Chris,

I looked at the warning you mentionend but they should not impact the Save OA as I would have expected.

Could you please check if you have Abstract with Busses pins ?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Halo Alex, Yes, the design does have pins, and the abstracts do seem to have pins. I have Find/Replaced the abstract views in the design with layout views. Now, when I close the design, it takes a very long time to open again (it is still busy opening, I don know if it will eventually open). Is it normal for the process to take such a long time. (It has been trying to open for about half an hour.)

Ah, as I was typing the previous post it miraculously opened! So it took about half an hour!

Did you open it in Virtuoso Layout L or in Layout XL ?

If you open it in Virtuoso XL you need first to turn OFF the extractor otherwise it will work on assigning shapes connectivity. In order to disable teh extractor please put the following line in your .cdsenv but make sure it exists only once and it does not exist with other value: layout extractEnabled boolean nil

    Thanks,

    Alex

When I double-click the layout view, Virtuoso Chip Editor automatically opens. When I right-click and select open with, and then select Virtuoso Layout XL, it opens much quicker. Thanks, Chris

When you use VCE which is the default for a view which has been created by Encounter it has as well to enable the extractor as well.

If you need any help please don't hesitet to post here.

    Thanks,

    Alex
