coupling capacitances not included in the spf file

Hi,

I am using encounter and post routing extracting RC +Coupling, I can see coupling capacitances in the spef format but if I shift to spf format, I do not see any coupling caps in it .

Thanks

    Hi amit

I think "spf" in EDI context refers to "dspf ver1.0" format. "spf" is a general term that refers to one of the two possible formats, namely rspf and dspf. dpsf 1.0 does not describe coupling caps. It is possible to have coupling caps in higher versions of dspf. Since EDI uses dspf 1.0, all the caps will be decoupled.

You can do a sign-off extraction using QRC to generate a version 1.5 dspf file. This should contain all the coupled caps under a "Coupling capacitors" section.

You can find some more information here:

    a. COS solution 11045618

    a. Dracula reference manual
    (Chapter 9 : Hierarchical PRE)

    b. EDA cafe
(This article seems to explain that spf is another format along with dspf and rspf. I think this is not very correct)

    c. Differences between spf, spef, dspf, rspf and sbpf

    d. IEEE 1481 Standard for Delay & Power Calculation Language Reference Manual

Since your question concerns RC extraction on the Encounter platform, perhaps it might be better for you to post related questions to our "Digital Implementation" forum. : )  When posting a question, it would be best if you can provide the specifc version of EDI which you are using and also the specific cmd which you are having trouble with.

    terminal>encounter -version | grep Enc

    Best regards
