Power Ring Via generation

Hi, I am doing p&r with Encounter (velocity) on a circuit but am having problems with the power ring.

I can place the ring fine, but the via generation tab is giving me problems. The process layout rules have a strict grid for vias, and even though I have defined the placement grid and routing layers, etc, when I make the power ring the vias that are used are not put onto this grid, so i have to change them by hand later (the vias do not even line up on the minimum grid defined in the LEF files).

 

Is there a way to change the location of the power ring vias by a specific value? other than the percentage settings on the "via generation" tab.
