Dynamic power analysis

Hi All, The problem I am facing is due to the encounter version I have (basically a stripped down version for universities), as I am a student. I want to do dynamic power analysis, I have a vcd file, I want to basically generate a power profile of chip...very accurate one is not needed a crude approximate method will equally work, Any idea how to do so...     Forgot to mention that my encounter version basically do not have a licence for dynamic power analysis thanks amit

     dynamic power analysis can be done in EPS, EPS documentation has a tutorial which explains the total tool flow. So I think it will be helpful for you.

    Otherwise if you only need an approximation you can do it with RTL compiler, which is the synthesizer tool, It can read in the VCD, TCF and SAIF files and will report power according to the switiching activity. Just search for the comand read_TCF or similar in RTL compiler command reference.
