Reading Constraints in RTL compiler

Hi,

I had a doubt regarding the constraints reading in RC. Basically the default time units for RC are in pico seconds.

Now i am using a library whose time units are also pico seconds. But i am reading a synopsys sdc constraints file which shows has time in nano seconds. My doubt is when RC reads this constraints file does it take the time values in the constraints file as pico seconds or does it take it as nano seconds and tranforms it to pico seconds??

Regards,

 Deepak

     Hi Deepak,

the following blog may shed some light about  SDC units

    http://www.cadence.com/Community/blogs/ld/archive/2009/05/25/Why-Your-Project-Should-Not-Follow-the-Fate-of-the-Mars-Orbiter-_2D00_-Part-I.aspx

generally speaking, SDC constraints are based on library units of first library read and the tools convert internally as needed
