Hello All,

I am using Encounter V4.1 for place and route, and I get a warning message complaining "The viaGen found no shadow vias to rebuild".
Can anyone help me please to solve this issue?

sroute post-processing starts at Mon Jun 10 14:54:25 2008
INFO (SOCPP_0551): The viaGen is rebuilding shadow vias for net A0SRC.
WARNING (SOCPP_0552): The viaGen found no shadow vias to rebuild.
sroute post-processing ends at Mon Jun 10 14:54:25 2008

Thanks,
Ali

    Ali,

Take a look at your power grid after sroute and see if the vias you were expecting are there. If so, you can ignore this warning. I think this warning may have been removed in more recent versions of the tool.

If I don't want vias there, is there any settings that I can make to solve this warning problem? Because in my design, if I set all the power/ground pins to line label pins, then the sroute will give this warning and not route the power/ground nets. But if I set at least one cell's power and ground pins to those with physical geometry, then it will route normally. But it does not make sense, and I can not explain the action of sroute.
