DEF import to Virtuoso

Im trying to import my DEF file from Encounter (Version 9.1) into Cadence Virtuoso (Version 5.1) to do my post P&R analysis, instead of using the GDS2 import from Encounter. I have successful in importing the design without errors EXCEPT for one, the layout is missing the metal LAYERS beneath the area marked PINS of same area. That is the only DRC error that I have. Any suggesting on why is acting up? thank in advance!

     Hello,

just execute "Create Layer Generation"as follows and select your corrsponding layers.

    i.e.:

    <MetalX drw> AND <MetalX drw> = <MetalX pin>

That's how it worked in ic5, as far as I remember.

    Regards,

    scudex

What does this refer to? Where/How is this executed?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

unfortunately I have to correct myself.

If you have pin without drawing areas and get the message that pin is not covered by drawing, then

    - select the pins

    - create layer genereation with MetalX.pin AND MetalX.pin = MetalX.dwr

     This should work.

     >Hello,

     >check out whether your pin areas are selected. I guess they have to ... . And if selected try again layer generation.

     >Cheers
