remove inverter pairs from design?

hello people, In velocity tool, I need some help with removing inverter pairs from the design. deleteBufferTree only seems to work on buffers. when I use the -footprint for this option with inverters it does not work. So does anyone know how to remove inverter pairs from the design? Thanks, -Tony

    Hi Tony,

    You can use "ecoDeleteRepeater -inst inv1 inv2".

    Regards,

    hi Wally1. Thanks for the reply. I looked into this command and it requires me to know the instance names. I should have been more specific. I am looking for a way to globally remove inverter pairs from the design. reason is because this is a netlist coming directly from synthesis where inverter pairs (& buffers) may not be necessary the best option for implementation. thanks, -Tony

    Prior to placement you can perform optimizations of your netlist using setOptMode. The -reclaimArea option for exemple is described like this:

    -reclaimArea {true | false}

    Controls whether timing optimization creates additional space by downsizing gates or deleting buffers, while maintaining worst slack and total negative slack.
    Default: false

    You can also run deleteBufferTree to remove buffers/inverter-pairs in the netlist. This is automatically run by placeDesign.

    Regards,

    Brian
