Question regarding a SITE definition

Are SITE DEFINITIONS something what designer must re-write for every cell?
Or it is something what I am supposed to receive from the foundry with the LEF file?

How does it usually work out?

thanks.

The SITE definition will be part of the standard cell LEF, from the library vendor. If you're talking about site definitions for something else, like macros or IOs, they are not needed. You can use sites with IOs, but you don't have to. AreaIO might be different, I haven't used those before, but they may need sites since they sit in the core.
