Power Stripes and Rings

Hi,

Why do we need power stripes and rings? If design is small then can I skip any of these steps. Lets say that my design was showing violations and when I removed stripes then it worked fine? My design is very small and few cells.

Would anyone advise me?

    Conceptually, power rings and stripes are to make sure you don't have an IR drop from the supply to your cell. Interconnects are ideally perfect conductors, but when we route long wires to connect the VDD to your cells, maybe your cell will only get a supply of VDD - (Current*resistance of the wire). to ensure when you say VDD, It means the same to all cells, we try and space them equidistant from the Supply. One way to do so is having a ring/stripes.
