[Voltus] set_pg_library_mode command option -power_pins?

Hi,

im using voltus for power grid view generation, what does the "-power_pins" option inside the set_pg_library_mode command do exactly?

for example,

set_pg_library_mode \

    -celltype macros  \

    -extraction_tech_file <dir> \

     -power_pins { vdd 1.98 }\ ...

is the voltage value 1.98 here for vdd important? by default, it will be set to 1.2, so i guess it is not important to set it to correct value or when i don't know what value to set it to?

thanks in advance

it is important to set it to the right value. You should know what your voltage is for the design, or the voltage that will be on those pins.

if my design has 3 different corners, vdd corresponds to 1.6/1.8/1.98 volt, does that mean i need to also run 3 times power grid view generation every time with power_pins vdd set to those 3 different corner voltage values?

You need to generate power-grid views for the PVT/corner that you plan to run power analysis in. So for example, if you plan to run your IR-drop analysis in ss_0p81v_125c (just an example, your PVTs seem different), then you would create the power grid views with voltage of 0.81v. If you plan to run EM analysis in ff_0p99v_125c, then you would need a set of power-grid views created with voltage set to 0.99v.

    Hai,

    Am using Innovous 15.2 version.

How can i generate Power grid library files. ?

Can you suggest the input files required for generation ?

Is it necessary to import design as LEF files .

How can I get LEF for my macros, VDD, rings as in RAK. ?

    Please help me .

    Thanks

See the Power Grid Library Generation chapter in the Voltus User Guide. Commands should work in Innovus.
