may anyone help me how to restrict the tool not to put VIABAR in its routing stages?

Can you explain more what you mean by VIABAR? Do you mean rectangular vias, or a layer called VIABAR?

    Hi Kari

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure exactly in what situation it is called VIABAR. Anyways, after finishing the PnR flow in Innovus, I import the the .gdsII and netlist file to virtuoso for checking the LVS and DRC.

I think for 'single-cut vias' (a large big via), the DRC gives an error of VIABAR and I have to replace that VIABAR with two or more distanced smaller vias.

In fact, I want to limit the Innovus tool in inserting those big troublesome vias.

Sounds like you have a situation where there is wider metal that requires a double-cut (or more) via instead of a single-cut. There are usually rules in the LEF file that say what metal widths need double-cut vias, as well as defined double-cut vias for the router to use. Make sure you have these things in your tech LEF.
