Issue with hold time when migrating from Encounter to Innovus

Hello,

I am trying to migrate my digital synthesis flow from Encounter (v12.00-p002_1) to Innovus (v19.14-s105_1) by updating the script that used to work with Encounter. After replacing the commands that become obsolete in Innovus (mainly updating CTS to the ccopt flow), I was able to let the flow run except for a hold time issue. Every time I use "optDesign -hold" to try to fix hold time issue, I get the following:

-> "1 net: Could not be fixed as the net is considered as IPO ignored by the process".

This causes a lot of hold violation to be ignored. This happens no matter at which stage I invoke the "optDesign -hold" command, and I am testing this on a simple scan chain design. I did not face this issue before with Encounter.

I would appreciate any help on solving this issue, please.

Many thanks in advance!

Cadence tool versions:

- Virtuoso: sub-version  IC6.1.8-64b.500.11

- Encounter/Timing: v12.00-p002_1

- Innovus: v19.14-s105_1

Kindest Regards,

Nader Fathy

    Hi Nader,

    Greetings!

I am not quite sure if you are aware of the Cadence support portal i.e. https://support.cadence.com.

You get plenty and a variety of knowledge pieces there to learn the tool and solve your design problems.

There is an excellent article on Recommendations for fixing hold violations in EDI System / Innovus

    Direct Link: https://support.cadence.com/apex/ArticleAttachmentPortal?id=a1Od0000000nUtZEAU&pageName=ArticleContent

Thank you so much Mukesh! This article is indeed useful, I will review it carefully.

Yes I am aware of Cadence Support, but some accounts like mine don't have the privilege of filing a case through the portal. It's a much shorter process to ask through the forums.

    Thanks again

    Kindest Regards,

    Nader Sh.

    Hi Nader,

I am glad you found the document useful.

You know the ability to file cases has no restrictions on what you could see on the support portal.

You can always register using your Innovus license host ID, and see all the knowledge contained on the support portal.

    Regards
