what is difference .DEF and .LEF and .GDS ?

hi, i am hjmoon , innovus user  in south korea

i'm begginer  level , started 3 month ago.

so , can you answer me about below?

Please understand if it's rude because my English is not good.

Question is 

< what is difference .DEF and .LEF and .GDS ?  >

in google, 

.DEF is exchange from one EDA tool to another tool and has information about all net.

.LEF has physical information :  cell size, pin position and so on

.GDS is layout about my whole design.

Can you explain what's right and the correct answer?

Please explain in detail what information is in each file.
