Help needed in using transaction recording specman

Hi,

I'm trying to use transaction recording in the specman code.  I was able to get some documentation under "Using the specman Component for IES-XL" chapter #4 and Chapter #5. They have documented method associated with SDI-e interface (global.external_trace). They only cover the following methods is_enabled(),  new_transaction(), new_transaction_at(), close_transaction() and set_transaction_attribute().  Simple example is given for reference. If you want to link transactions, how would do this? Is there other place to find more info on transaction recording

Currently the SDI-e API doesn't provide a way to link transactions, although the underlying SDI library does support various relationships between transactions.

    Hi,

I was have used transaction recording in the systemC and ncsim environment while ago.  I think we could link transactions as child or predecessor relationships.

Example Register write operation causing a dma activity could be linked and make it easier for debug.

    Thanks

    Hi Bala.

I understand what you're saying, but unfortunately the SPecman developers have not yet implemented thelinking mechanism into the SDI-e implementation. So although SystemC transactions can be linked under a SystemC testbench, the same is not true for Specman testbenches.

    Steve.
